In Hebrew there are plenty of options for these architectural/engineering elements: סמך, תמך, תמיכה, תומכה, סומכה but I would suggest סומכה, that was approved by the Academy as the translation of the English word "Strut", which actually reflects the role of those "supports" in the best way. Of course, you are free to choose any other option: תומכה, סמך וכו'.
"Guide" is the inclined body of the elevator. Cf. "guide rail" - the rail under the elevator's steps, on which they "sit" and by which they go (see its images here: http://www.google.com/search?q=elevator guide rail&hl=en&cli... The word "guide" in technical Hebrew can be translated by the word מוביל (see חיים גפני, המילון הטכני, 1978), but in our case you can choose to call it just דרגנוע as well, since these actually "supports" support not only the "guide rail", but the whole elevator's body. |
