| | Hebrew translation:unsecured aneurysm | Explanation: It is my impression that this may be a term generated specifically for the purposes of a specific study or article and not a commonly used term that one would find in textbooks. Its definition may appear in the Glossary accompanying the study or article.
I, personally, am not familiar with this term.
For the SPECIFIC CONTEXT given here, I would try to stay consistent with similar phrases that appear in the material you are translating. For instance:
Do you have an instances where the following appear?
secured aneurysm
securing the aneurysm
pts whose aneurysm was secured
and so on.
I can then try to help you with the translation of:
unsecured aneurysm.

In my hospital and in my many years of clinical work I have never encountered this term. I guess I do not read the right medical literature <grin>. I must confess - my background is Medicine and not Surgery.
from what I just read in the more reliable references online, I understand that a secured aneurysm is one that is not at risk (or has a lower risk) to rupture or to re-rupture while an unsecured one is and that there are many ways to secure an aneurysm (glue, flap, coil, clamp and so on).
maybe:
generic, without specifying the treatment provided
for some reason,
reminds me of my army service:
יחידת אבטחה - הציר מאובטח
I would like to convey the meaning of:
הגנה מפני פריצה / דימום
מניעת פריצה / דימום
נותן הבטחה שלא יפרץ / ידמם
and not the connotation of
but maybe I am being too critical and picky.

Asker: Hi, thanks for your input. Unsecured aneurysm appears about a 1000 time in English google. I've read the following and translated according to that:
http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/trauma-hp/MediaLibraries/Trauma-HP/Media/Guidelines/SAH-Aneurysm.pdf
Please have a look at it and tell me if:
מפרצת לא מאובטחת, שלא טופלה בסליל או בהידוק
sounds OK?
My specific text has no mention of anything similar anywhere else.
Asker: Picky is exactly what I come here for. If I wanted to do sloppy work I wouldn't have asked the question.
Thanks!
Asker:
