English to Hebrew translations [Non-PRO]
Other / trying to learn
English term or phrase: i am that i am
I want to see if there is a difference between God saying to moses, i am that i am and when Jesus said before Abraham was, i am.

I would also like to know how the verse, six hundred three score and six is written in Hebrew.

אהיה אשר אהיה

Explanation:
This is God's saying to moses, and it is pronounced "ehyeh asher ehyeh". Note that literally and out of context, a Hebrew speaker would interpret this as the future tense, i.e. "ehyeh" means "I shall be".

It is difficult to compare this with Jesus's words, since any Hebrew version of the New Testament is a translation; even if Jesus had originally said it in Hebrew, we do not not how. For what it's worth, the Hebrew translation I have uses "ani hayiti", which literally means "I was".

As for "six hundred three score and six": in Hebrew this would be:
שש מאות ששים ושש
pronounced "shesh me'ot shishim vashesh". There is no equivalent to "score" in Hebrew.
