In a lighter Romanization: avirat-kod (the action), maavar-kod (its object).
"Code" as a system of signs is to be left, IMHO, as 'qoodh' in Hebrew, in order to keep all the doors open and not to be too restrictive.
"Switching" (in contextual French: "transition") is as mentioned.
