English term or phrase: treasury shares

Treasury shares must be deducted from equity. No gain or loss shall be recognized in profit or loss on the purchase, sale, issue or cancellation of an entity’s own equity instruments. Such treasury shares may be acquired and held by the entity. Consideration paid or received shall be recognized directly in equity. The amount of treasury shares held is disclosed separately on the face of the balance sheet.

a treasury stock szinoníma = a saját részvények állománya
a dolog onnan kezdődött, hogy a tőzsdén jegyzett cégeknél minden minősítés alapja az egy részvényre jutó eredmény, cash flow, ezért a cégek inkább visszavásároltak részvényeket, hogy javítsák a mutatókat (a saját részvény nem szavaz, nem kap osztalékot, nem számít bele a mutatókba)
ezt egy darabig szigorúan korlázozták is, de a 70-es évektől nagyon engedékeny lett a közhangulat és sokszor folyamodnak hozzá pl. felvásárlás veszélye esetén is (na meg részvényopciós programok, a vezetés vagy a munkavállalók számára)
