A futóműbeállítással kapcsolatos méréseket a jármű többféle helyzetében elvégzik, a mérések hibáinak „kompenzálására”.
Rolling compensation-nál az eredeti helyzetben, majd kissé hátra, majd újra vissza gurított helyzetben végzi el a műszer a méréseket, ebből számítja ki a jellemzőket.
Jacking compensation-nál a jármű felemelt helyzetben van, hasonló állapotot itt a kerekek elfordításával idéznek elő.
Lehetne a neve gördítő kompenzálás, illetve kompenzálás felemelt állapotban.
„Some newer alignment machines are equipped with an optional “Rolling Compensation” method to “compensate” the sensors (alignment targets or head units). Do NOT use this “Rolling Compensation” method.
Use the “Jacking Compensation” method. After installing the alignment targets or head units, raise the vehicle and rotate the wheels 1/2 turn both ways.”
