A jelentése világos: arról van szó, hogy egy vállalkozás kevés kezdőtőkével, a saját erejéből (külső tőkebefektető segítsége nélkül) küzdi fel magát. Csak ez így nagyon hosszú és körülményes, ezért nagyon jól hangzó, frappáns kifejezést keresek rá, ami fejezetcímben és a szövegben sok-sok alkalommal leírva (és bootstrapping, bootstrappable, bootstrapper formában) is megállja a helyét.
