2006 őszétől, a kétszintes képzésre való átállással, megszűnt az önálló filozófia szakos alapképzés. Helyébe a szabad bölcsészet alapképzési szak lép. Ez a szak általános bölcsészettudományi képzést nyújt, amelynek anyagában, a nyelvszakok kivételével, minden szak anyagából vannak kurzusok. A szak szakirányai: etika, esztétika, filozófia, kommunikáció és vallástudomány. Tájékoztató a szabad bölcsészet szakról. Ennek keretében a tanszék főleg az esztétikai, a filozófiai és vallástudományi tárgyak oktatásában vesz részt, de emellett bőven tart a szóbeli és az írásbeli kommunikációval kapcsolatos készségfejlesztő órákat.

This MA program won't accept new students. As part of the restructuring of higher education, the Hungarian government decided to cut down the number of undergraduate programs students can apply to. Philosophy is one of the several subjects which cannot be taught in the framework of an independent program on the undergraduate level. It becomes part of the liberal arts BA program, a 3-year program also including subjects like art history, communication, ethics, aesthetics, film studies, religious studies. Students with a BA in liberal arts may then apply to a new 2-year MA program in philosophy. The liberal arts BA program is already accepting students and will be started in the fall of 2006. The projected starting date of the new MA program is 2009.
