"ET (short for Einpress Tiefe) is equal to Offset
Offset is the distance between the center line and the fitting surface of the wheel in millimeters (A)
The bigger the ET is the more the wheel sticks in. A wheel with negative offset sticks more out. Offset is zero when the fitting surface meets the center line of the wheel. The wheel in the cross section drawing has negative ET."

"Measuring Offset
Offset describes the dimension from the centerline of the rim to the mounting flange of the center section. A positive offset will put the mounting flange on the outside of the centerline and push the wheel into the fender more. A negative will put the mounting flange of the inside of the centerline and move the wheel out of the fender. Positive offset rims are most commonly found on front wheel drive cars. "
