The sound attenuation of an absorption-type silencer occurs by transforming sound oscillations into friction. This happens inside the mineral wool filling of the splitters. The mineral wool is protected from the gas flow by means of glass felt and perforated plates. To ensure the full affectivity of the silencer, this protection must acoustically be transparent. For this reason, absorption-type silencers are only suitable for clean and slightly dust-loaded gases.
• CLEANING
We recommend to check the silencer splitters at regular intervals with regard to soiling. In particular the perforated plates should be tested for dust deposits. In case of soiling, we recommend the following cleaning measures:

For a thorough cleaning, the splitters have to be removed from the silencer casing.
