Explanation:
Mind a két másik válasz igaz, a "Magic tape" a Scotch cég márkája, a jó öreg celluxot nevezik így.
Azonban, ha a telefon, amiről szó van, japán márkájú, akkor 99%-ban biztos vagyok, hogy másról van szó.

Ja, 8 évig éltem Japánban, Japánról is fordítok.
A fentiek érvényesek lehetnek egyéb ázsiai országokra is, láttam már kínai és tajvani gyártók árulistáját, ahol magic tape-nek nevezték a tépőzárat (velcro).

History

The roll of ScotchŽ Magic tape that's so familiar in your household starts out in a much bigger roll here at 3M, we call it a "jumbo roll." If you were to take that big jumbo roll and cut it into 1/2-inch-wide strips, there would be enough tape to reach from Washington, D.C., to Boston.
3M, based in St. Paul, Minnesota, makes hundreds of industrial, consumer and packaging tapes. But the best-known and most widely used is our No. 810 tape, better known as ScotchŽ Magic tape. Today's tape is a far cry from the early versions of ScotchŽ Transparent Tape. At first, our only other transparent tape was cellophane-backed with a shiny surface. Today's ScotchŽ Magic tape is treated to give it a matte surface. When it's applied it seems like it "disappears," because you can barely see it, and the tape is so clear that you can see through it.

It unwinds easily. You can write on it. You can machine copy through it. It's water-repellent. And, unlike the early tape, it won't yellow or ooze adhesive with age.

There's a lot of science and engineering involved here in what seemingly is a simple product.

Three separate operations go into the making of the tape. First, the film backing is made. Then the pressure-sensitive, synthetic adhesive is produced. Finally, the two are combined to make the finished roll of tape.

A very thin coating of pressure-sensitive adhesive is metered onto the film. It's dried in long, high-temperature ovens. The finished tape is wound up onto jumbo rolls, as mentioned earlier.

The jumbo is then slit into narrow bands, which are wound onto individual cores to produce various size rolls of the tape. The rolls are then inspected, packed and shipped.

Packages are printed in a number of languages for shipment all over the world. But, whatever the language, one thing is always the same the Scotch trademark.
