Explanation:
Szerintem ez nem egyszerűen kilométerszámláló, hanem több annál.
Ez a hivatalos magyar neve: tachométer.
Többször tolmácsoltam KRESZ-vizsgáknál, és így szerepel minden dokumentációban.
A tachométer rögzíti a sofőr nevét, a célállomást, a megtett kilométerek számát, mikor állt meg a sofőr pihenni, tankolni (stb.)

Persze egy precíz szövegben a tachométer angolul is tachometer, ezért ha az odometernek szűkebb jelentése van, akkor bocs.

Explanation:
Régebbi nevén "hodometer", nem tévesztendő a hodograph-fal. A kerékhez rögzített, annak fordulatát mérő műszer a megtett út mérésére. (A görög hodos = út; és metron = mérés szavakból). Lásd: Chambers 20th Century Dictionary (brit-angol értelmezőszótár). A Lázár-Varga magyar szótár US-ben használatos szónak mondja, "kilométeróra" jelentéssel.

Három műszer is van a távolság mérésére:
1. Kilométeróra (gyártástól számított összkilométerszámra)
2. Tachometer (az egyes utak alatt történt vezetési jellegzetességekre, megállásokat is számítva, sebességet, stb.)
3. Útmérő, azaz odometer, egyszerűen a megtett táv megállapítására (a UK-ben a "trip counter" névre is hallgat)
