A progresszív adó az adók olyan fajtája, amelynél az átlagadókulcs (a fizetendő adó és az adóalap hányadosa) nő az adóalap emelkedésével. Vagyis minél magasabb az adóalap, annál nagyobb százalékát kell adó formájában befizetni.
