A kérelemben közölte, hogy a csőd nem érinti Egyesült Államokon kívüli vállalkozásait. Korábban brit vállalata már csődbe ment. A michigani óriásvállalatnak világszerte, így Magyarországon is vannak érdekeltségei, 27 országban mintegy 31 ezer embert foglalkoztat.
A vállalat az amerikai csődtörvény 11. paragrafusa értelmében kért csődvédelmet csaknem 4,58 milliárd dollár összértékű eszközeire. Közlése szerint adósságainak összege 5,32 milliárd dollár. "
