The De laval is again a translation. There is no existing (and used) term: "előfejés". You all know that we translate a lot of things from English, not knowing, that there exists an old Hungarian term for that. This is the same situation. People who deal with this topic, never use "előfejés" for forestripping. I'm sure there are a lot of similar terms in your special fields. (I have an old textbook, with lab data of the "guineai sertés":-))
The topic is more complicated than I thought. From the English definitions it did not occur to me that there are different terms for dry cows. What is előfejés then, premilking? The other thing that's puzzling to me is that the Agrotechnika link does not seem to be a translation, it seems to be a genuine Hungarian text, and they are in this field, it seems...
Thanks, Peter. The truth is, that I'm a veteriarian (and a translator), specialized in udder health, for almost 30 years. The term "előfejés" has never been used for "forestripping". This is just a translation made by somebody, who is not an expert in the terminology. The foremilk, "előtej" is different, that is milk of the dry cows before colostrum, before calving. Forestripping is used in the lactation, to remove the first squirts of milk, richest in bacteria and somatic cells. So don't try to change an old technical term!
Dear Katalin, I know it seems funny, that I am expressing now argument against my version, but I see the points in the term offered by mgvet. The term suggested by mgvet is indeed an exact term, that is used in agri education, and in books. So there is no doubt that the "első tejsugarak kifejése" is correct. Still, it I suggest and prefer. also "előfejés" for several reasons:
1. Shorter. Hungarian language in my point of view in many cases too "explaining" and too wordy. Sometimes I envy people from English-speaking areas, who write less "explaining" and rely more on the background knowledge that is assumed to be on the side of the recipient.
2. Does not lead to misunderstandings (?) I think when - like in this case - a shorter verision does not lead to misunderstandings, we should use it. Language should be a living thing. (Of course if "előfejés" can refer to a different thing in the industry, than we should reconsider the term, that is very important!! So I am open to opposals)
3. I think one word is preferable against an expression. (e.g. "előgyújtás" against " felső holtpont előtti gyújtás"). It can be handled easier in complicated sentencies.

Explanation: Az első tejsugarak kifejése arra utal, hogy a fejőgép feltétele előtt a fejőnek kézzel kell néhány sugárnyi tejet kifejnie a tőgyből, egyrészt azért, hogy a baktériumban és fehérvérsejtekben gazdag anyagot eltávolítsa, másrészt azért, mert ilyenkor érzi, hogy gyulladt-e a tőgy.
