A mérési feladat, amit Péter leír, egyértelmű. Erre a célra mérőóra használatos. Nem tudom, láttál vagy használtál-e ilyen órát, de a wiki cikk alapján szerintem világos a működése. Nem csak a mérési feladat, de a mérési pontosság alapján is egészen biztos vagyok benne. "Nyelvi" példa: "....a mechanism similar to that in a machinist's indicator. That's a little tool with a tip... when that tip gets pressed a little tiny bit a needle moves a long distance.

Nekem sem tűnik igazinak a mérőóra, de ha a szakma azt használja, akkor legyen az. Én lakatos mérőórát hallanék szívesen, de biztos túl hosszú.
