Steg
Verbindungssteg, engl.: continuous beam; Verbindungsvorrichtung bei festsitzend-herausnehmbaren Zahnersatz. Zwischen zwei überkronten Zähnen (meist den unteren Eckzähnen, wenn die 4 kleinen Schneidezähne fehlen), befindet sich eine starre Verbindung ("Verblockung") aus vorgefertigtem stabilen "Golddraht" (runder o. ovaler Querschnitt) oder aus einem gegossenen Zwischenstück (meist parallelwandig), auf welchem die Teilprothese gleichzeitig abgestützt und gehalten wird.
Verbunden wird der herausnehmbare Ersatz über sog. "Stegreiter" (engl.: bar clip, bar attachement), welche meist aktivierbar ("aktiv") sind.
Je nach Querschnitte des St. spricht man von einem Steggelenk (bar joint) bei rundem u. ovalem Querschnitt, welches Drehbewegungen um die Achse des St. zulässt, bzw. von einem Steggeschiebe (bar attachement) bei parallelwandiger Ausformung des St. (starre Verbindung mit dem St.)
