English term or phrase: pickled shark

Please can you tell me what the real translation for this "delicacy" is. I'm guessing it's not "pikkles hákarl".

Explanation:
it is 'kæstur hákarl' although pickled is not the usual translation for this.

A more traditional translation is "rotten shark". There is no word in the English language that is the equivalent of 'kæstur'.

Asker: Takk! It's for a webpage - could you suggest a more normal English version - I saw lots of variations when I googled. TX

Asker: Thx again! I would say "rotten" (especially having smelled but not tasted it!) but maybe pickled sounded a bit more ... appetising ;)
