Kalau ada konteksnya, jawabannya bisa lebih tepat pak.

Beyond sering dipakai menunjukkan sesuatu yang melewati .. jadi kalau beyond the city, artinya melewati kota untuk sampai ke tempat itu, jadi "di luar kota."
