Kebakaran kali ini jauh lebih mengerikan dari 4 tahun lalu, it was the worst ever for San Diego. Tetapi kalau dilihat secara sepihak 4 tahun lalu pusat api yang terbesar was right around our neighborhood, so… actually for me and my family, 4 tahun lalu jauh lebih mengerikan. Our house is surrounded by hills. Empat tahun lalu, bukit disekeliling rumah habis terbakar, rumah rumah yang berlokasi di atas bukit dan pas dibawah kaki bukit, semua habis, plus tetangga juga banyak yang rumahnya terbakar. Kami harus keluar dari rumah dalam bilangan menit, we grabbed nothing, cuma beberapa potong pakain, surat penting, pictures dan computer, and of course our dog Sam. Our neighborhood was blocked right away by the police, boleh keluar, nggak boleh masuk. We really thought we lost our home back then. Pulang kerumah sesudah 2 hari, rumahnya kotooor, lantai hitam pekat oleh debu,* halaman penuh dengan segala macam debris*, dari atap rumah, kayu kebakaran sampe daun dan batang pohon yang patah. It was a complete mess, plus we lived without electricity, udah seperti kota mati.
