English term or phrase: Courage is the quiet voice
This is for a tattoo, so it's important it be as accurate as possible. As far as dialect, I would be happy with either the most common dialect used in Ireland, or the dialect spoken in my family's home of County Cavan, which is Ulster.
An acquaintance who speaks the language gave me the following translation:
Is é misneach an guth ciúnis.
Because she is not a professional, I'm nervous about the accuracy of this translation.

courage is the quiet voice
Is misneach é an guth ciúin

Explanation:
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to translate that literally. It's definitely not 'ciúinis' at the end. That is the form you would use when you would like to order someone to be quiet, not as an adjective for 'voice'.

It depends what you're trying to say here. So there is a quiet voice, and that is courage. Because that's different from saying courage is a quiet voice.

Either way, I belive 'Is misneach é an guth ciúin' is the closest translation possible.
