"Insert" refers to a plaque with product on it that can be inserted into a "suitcase" to demonstrate product. This insert can have the XXX product or changed to demonstrate a different product.

Secondo me il termine "inserto" è poco chiaro, quindi userei il termine suggerito dal cliente, placca.

Explanation:
visto che l'oggetto in questione, l' "instert" e' utilizzato, insieme ad un display, per mettere in bella mostra il prodotto io lascerei un termine semplice ed 'anonimo' che pero' non confonde chi legge o cerchi di capire di cosa si tratti.
