English term or phrase: pithoi, (sing. "pithos")
A pithos is a large clay jar. Pithoi were typically used for storage of food, such as grains.

The plural is pithoi.

What are these called in Italian? I believe it's a word of Greek origin.

Many thanks in advance, Katy.
