The area directly in front of the proposals contains the archaeological remains
of a Roman fort. Due to the proximity of these remains it is envisaged that a
full archaeological excavation of the footprint of the new building will take
place prior to the construction works beginning. These works will be carried
out by specialists and will not form part of the construction contract, however
the local archaeological trust will maintain a watching brief on the site and will
have to be informed prior to any type of excavation.

"Soprintendenza" è sinonimo certamente, qualcuno usa uno , altri l'altro.
Forse anche dire : "La Soprintendenza archeologica locale" ma io preferirei : "la locale sovrintendenza ai beni archeologici" oppure la "sovrintendenza locale ai beni archeologici". :)))
