drools - Tylenols Explanation: There is no verb for "to drool" in this context. You must use the sentence to include "con la bava alla bocca". (Also, in Italy there is no Tylenol brand (asprin) So the question is what to do with the word Tylenol?) "..drooling on our desks...." means literally drooling on the desk. so down "that the saliva would drivel out of their mouth" Explanation: We have to be careful here about bava and sbavare in Italian:"bava alla bocca" means to get angry, red under the collar; sbavare (intr.) is "to drool after something". Sbavare (transitive) il banco is more to drool in the sense above. Regards Paola L M |

sbavare sul banco Explanation: In my opinion, the meaning here is that the drug is so strong that it will cause the kids to fall asleep on their schooldesks. Sometimes, when you fall asleep, you drool. People who take a certain kind of drugs (heroin, for example) easily fall asleep and drool. |

'to drool' I gather here means 'parlare a vanvera' or 'dire fesserie' Explanation: I think in this context the boys were talking nonsense after taking those pills, rather than actually secreting saliva. Unless you know that this drug has such effect on users. Zanichelli third edition |

"non riuscivamo a tenere la testa dritta" Explanation: Mi associo all'opinione "sbavare". Se si trattasse di "parlare a vanvera" l'autore non avrebbe aggiunto "sui banchi". L'altra soluzione, sarebbe di trovare un'altra cosa che renda "how DOWN they were", cioè l'effetto della depressione creata dalle pillole. Ad esempio "eravamo così abbattuti, che la testa ci sbatteva sul banco" o "che non riuscivamo a tenere gli occhi aperti". Buon lavoro, Floriana |

vedi sotto Explanation: Io credo voglia far visualizzare l\'immagine di questi ragazzini intontiti che hanno la testa sul banco, l\'aria stralunata e la bocca aperta. To drool si usa spesso per i neonati che hanno la saliva che cola dai lati della bocca a causa del poco sviluppato controllo muscolare. |
