It's a phrase in a song that I am translating... this is not the first expression that I find difficult to translate because of its non-literal meaning.... for this one I am at a loss.... do you have any ideas? Thank you for your help...

tradurre canzoni e' come tradurre poesia, un'impresa disperata, difficile, ma anche di grande soddisfazione.
Come dice Giovanni, il significato e' proprio quello, ci vediamo, ciao, arrivederci a presto."

Noi usiamo anche "see you soon, baboon"
Non e' importante quale animale scegliere, e' importante che faccia rima.

Ora non so che tipo di traduzione stai facendo, se devi conservare la rima, la scansione del verso o cosa....

passerei le giornate a fare traduzioni di questo tipo, ma non ci si guadagna molto
