l'anti-stone chip serve a non danneggiare quello strato di vernice dalla ghiaia, dal pietrisco e dalle pietre. Cioè quando la macchina cammina solleva la ghiaia le pietroline ecc. l'anti-stone chip è il nome che designa quello strato di vernice resiliente che appunto protegge il colore. Cosi lo spiega il dizionario dei termini meccanici e dell'automazione:
