The sample contains fly ashes with heavy metals. The treatment is used to stabilise the heavy metals and reduce leaching. I would like to know what you think *addition of....* means, could it be *aumento della concentrazione del reagente di 4,5 percento in peso*, it refers to the reagent concentration , doesn't it? And how would you translate it?
Here is the whole sentence:
The treatability study indicated that the heavy metals present in the sample will respond to the tratment and though *addition of 4.5 weight percent of XXX* (the reagent mix) failed to reduce the heavy metals bleed to below 1 mg/litre from the substantial level of 97 mg/litre, overall heavy metal leaching was reduced by 57.5 % and lead leaching was reduced by 65%. Though outside the range of our study it is our judgement that this material could be brought to within acceptable leaching limits for lead by treatment with circa 8% w/w XXX (the reagent mix).
