A plasticiser is a substance which when added to a material, usually a plastic, produces a product which is flexible, resilient and easier to handle. Since the dawn of civilisation, water has been used to plasticise clay for the production of pottery and clay tablets. Also, lime has been used to promote the easier working of cements. http://www.plasticisers.org/other/faq

Finally, lime is widely used in the manufacture of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). Carbon dioxide gas is introduced into a lime slurry and CaCO3 is precipitated out of solution. Precipitated calcium carbonates are produced in large quantities for paper, plastics, sealants, food and pharmaceuticals. Click on the link below to learn more about precipitated calcium carbonates.

Specialty Minerals Products for Plastics
SMI offers a variety of mineral products for the plastics industry to enhance the performance of plastic products and composites:
Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) products including ultrafine particles in the nano range, are highly functional additives that provide superior impact strength in rigid or unplasticized PVC resin systems. Their uses include window profiles, fencing, siding, thermoforming, calendared stock and foamed PVC. They are also useful as thickening and gloss-producing minerals in unsaturated polyesters http://www.specialtyminerals.com/specialty-applications/spec...

la calce ‘viva', costituita prevalentemente da ossido di calcio;

buon proseguimento

Grazie mille
Notes to answerer
