alcuni produttori hw lo chiamano anche "dummy module", definito così nel primo link qui sotto:
"Dummy module (does nothing but prevent dust from collecting in the bay)"
è un modulo "vuoto" da inserire nell'alloggiamento al posto di un hard disk secondario o altro, per alleggerire il portatile senza però lasciare alloggiamenti vuoti.
L'ho trovato come "modulo dummy", vedi secondo link:
"Modulo dummy (protezione degli alloggiamenti in cui non è innestato alcun modulo)"
Ci sono pochi riscontri in rete, ma ti potrebbe servire come spunto...
[Ho trovato anche un "modulo di protezione alloggiamenti disco" (italy.emc.com/microsites/clariion-support/ax100/pdf/disk_replace.pdf ) che però non credo sia la stessa cosa, penso si riferisca a "filler", usato per sistemi più grandi e non per laptop]
