Explanation:
I termini corretti dovrebbero essere PIT e LAND, rispettivamente per i bit 0 ed i bit 1. Si tratta di microscopici avvallamenti della superficie del CD di diversa lunghezza: "breve" per i PIT e "lunga" per i LAND.

Si trova tuttavia la dizione: BUMP e SPAZI rispettivamente per i PIT e per i LAND. Il concetto è comunque lo stesso.

Quando masterizziamo un cd i dati vengono scritti dal masterizzatore in uno strato riflettente in modo da creare in esso dei microfori (pit) che si alternano a zone che non vengono alterate (land). I pit ed i land vengono scritti secondo delle regole note col nome di \"Book Standard\", in questo modo tutti i masterizzatori adottano le stesse lunghezze di pit e land.
