English to Italian translations [PRO]
Economics / divulgative book
English term or phrase: bracketing

A for Automation puts cash flow on autopilot using geographic arbitrage, outsourcing, and rules of nondecision. From ***bracketing*** to the routines of ultrasuccessful New Rich, it’s all here. This section provides the second ingredient of luxury lifestyle design: income.

Explanation:
Ciao Floriana,

Negotiating is, for most, an uncomfortable attempt at impromptu haggling. For the **NR**, it is a planned sequence of predictable objections and responses that can be orchestrated to produce the desired outcome. It’s like planning three or four moves ahead in chess, forcing an opponent to put themselves in check-mate.
[...]
Principle 6: Use intelligent **“bracketing.”** If the list price is $2,000 and I want to pay $1,500, for example, I’ll offer $1,000, creating a $500 buffer on either side of the target price. The other side will offer $1,750, I’ll compromise at $1,250, and then we’ll settle at $1,500. “Let’s just split the difference” creates the illusion that they are getting a concession from us when, in fact, it was all pre-planned.

Bracket the Offer Effectively
Untrained negotiators usually expect to transact at a price halfway between their starting point and your initial offer. **“Bracketing”** means that you have taken this knowledge into consideration and have **made adjustments within your offer** to reflect it. The opening position should be low enough that if the seller splits the difference, the resulting price is lower than your target. For example, if the asking price is $110,000 and your target price is $105,000, you may bracket this negotiation with an offer of $98,500 (rather than $100,000). This would create a range of $11,500 and a higher chance of you obtaining the property at or below your target price.
