Salve a tutti,
in questo contesto non riesco a capire a cosa si riferisca DI PRECISO l'espressione in oggetto:

"The evaluation of your child’s abilities usually consists of an interview with the parent or caregiver to discuss concerns about your child’s development, as well as their likes and dislikes."

Perché dovrebbe essere necessario valutare cosa piace o non piace al bambino? O si riferisce ai genitori?
Si tratta di una valutazione per stabilire se il bambino ha diritto a usufruire di servizi statali per bambini con ritardo mentale e affini.

si riferisce al bambino anche se è strano perché è "child" e poi dice "their"; d'altronde anche "parent" è al singolare...

La traduzione dei termini non ha nulla di strano, per questo ti ho segnalato i duplicati già in glossario.
L'uso del pronome plurale successivo al nome singolare è semplicemente una regola linguistica.

Nell'estratto si parla dello sviluppo del bambino e delle sue capacità. E' chiaro che capire ciò che gli piace o non gli piace è importante per capire il tipo di problematiche relazionali, sensoriali, ecc. potrà avere in seguito, specie se le rivela nei primissimi anni di vita.
A livello psicologico, quindi, mi pare che un bambino possa avere bisogno di attenzioni speciali se, attraverso i colloqui conoscitivi con gli adulti che si occupano di lui, rivela particolare piacere o fastidio anche rispetto ad azioni apparentemente normali, tipo il contatto fisico, l'atteggiamento visivo, l'approccio al gioco, al rapporto con altri bambini...

Asker: Sì, conosco la regola linguistica e non mi chiedevo certo il perché fosse al plurale (è stata un'altra persona a chiederselo...), mi sembrava solo strano il modo di esprimere questo dato, tutto qui...Grazie per i link!
