This is a measurement of the capacitance to ground of the circuit and the motor taken as a single unit. High capacitance readings are a result of wet or dirty windings with some insulation degradation that may result in higher inrush currents. A **contaminated air gap** can cause a decrease in motor efficiency, thus an increase in current draw. A high capacitance value combined with very low resistance to ground is a strong indication of a grounded motor.
More than 150,000 pf indicates a possible problem, an increase in monitoring should occur.
