Le batterie al piombo sono quelle utilizzate su tutte le auto. Perla ricarica vedi qui sotto:
Per fornire energia una batteria deve essere costantemente ricaricata attraverso una sorgente di corrente elettrica. La sorgente non dovrebbe mai fornire una corrente superiore al 10% della capacità in Ah della batteria stessa. Ad esempio una batteria da 80Ah non dovrebbe essere ricaricata ad un rate superiore di 8/10 A per evitare danni. In campo automobilistico esistono dei carica batterie, detti rapidi, in grado di fornire correnti talvolta addirittura superiori a quella di targa della batteria. È il miglior modo per danneggiare irrimediabilmente una batteria, magari nuova, e comunque abbreviarne di molto la vita. Un processo di carica violento può infatti surriscaldare le piastre fino a distorcerle, danneggiare i collegamenti interni, indurre processi elettrochimici violenti, tutte cose deleterie per la batteria.
