English term or phrase: was out to win
Salve.

Trovo "XXX, with its knowledge and flexible model, was out to win and conquer, waiting for EU authorities to give the green light, maybe with some territorial concessions to be made."

mi sfugge l'espressione "was out to win and conquer"

Grazie ancora

Un'alternativa

Sul Ragazzini ho trovato questa voce: "(fig.) avere messo gli occhi addosso a q., to be out to get sb"

Buon lavoro!
