Una noticina di chiarimento. Il termine non compare più nel mio testo, quindi non posso essere più specifico, ma credo che un qualcosa di generico (ovvero una versione elegante di "coso che copre") andrebbe benissimo.

might well have to be something along the lines of 'pannelli metallici di rivestimento', in other words bits of metal to cover up other bits and pieces, no idea if there is a proper term out there. Or use 'cappa' but doesn't really do the trick....

Have a look at this: http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=62635 and search the page for cowl panel. Cowls and cowlings are simply (lightweight) shaped covers of some sort. Any good?
