Ciao ML,
a quanto mi sembra di capire la differenza tra flame retardant e flame rated potrebbe risiedere nel fatto che:
-i flame retardant sono materiali ritardanti di fiamma di per sé
mentre:
-i flame rated, diventano materiali ritardanti di fiamma grazie all'aggiunta di materiali flame retardant.
Spero di non essere stata troppo contorta.
Guarda qui, per esempio:

La mia è un'ipotesi, non ne sono certissima, ma secondo me è plausibile. Come distinguerli poi in italiano è un altro discorso. Secondo me rated e retardant, nella resa italiana, sono sinonimi (a meno che si decida di spiegare e non più tradurre...)

Asker: Ciao Bruna, sì dovrebbe. Io ho utilizzato ritardante di fiamma (il cliente mi ha spiegato che esiste una differenza tra flame resistant = ignifugo e flame retardant = ritardante di fiamma). Il cliente aveva sempre usato flame retardant e questo è l'unico caso dove mi appare Flame-rated, quindi cercavo una formula differenziata dalla prima (se esiste).
