È il test per la valutazione della resistenza alla combustione dei materiali non metallici utilizzati all’interno dell’abitacolo dei veicoli. La normativa a cui si riferisce è quella del Registro Federale degli Stati Uniti, (alla quale Fiat si è attenuta nella stesura della sua Norma Materiali 50433). Il materiale testato assume le seguenti caratteristiche di classificazione: ininfiammabile, autoestinguente ed a lenta velocità di combustione.

Questo è il test che prova la reazione al fuoco di mobili imbottiti sottoposti all’azione di una piccola fiamma. Il metodo fornisce un’indicazione orientativa sulla reazione al fuoco di un mobile nella fase iniziale di un incendio, sotto l’azione di una sorgente di limitata entità. Il mobile imbottito viene classificato a seconda del suo comportamento durante le prove: classe 1 IM, classe 2 IM, classe 3 IM. Questa prova è un decreto emanato dalla Repubblica italiana.
