agree  Elena Ghetti: OK, però penso che gear in questo caso si riferisca al rapporto

  -> rapporto è un ingranaggio; si chiama così perchè ha "n" denti (es. 16) e quindi un certo "rapporto" con la ruota dentata sulla pedaliera (es. 52 denti; quindi rapporto 52/16)
