Ciao Serena, per "subprime" si intende quella fascia del mercato (in questo caso dei mutui) composta da individui che non hanno le caratteristiche per accedere alle condizioni più vantaggiose ("prime"). Si tratta solitamente di persone a basso reddito e/o con un merito di credito comunque basso. A queste persone sono stati offerti mutui a condizioni estremamente vantaggiose (rispetto al rischio di default) - quando i prezzi delle case hanno rallentato la corsa e i tassi di interesse hanno cominciato ad aumentare, molte di queste persone sono diventate insolventi. Il resto, ahimè, è noto.
