Il terzo più grande uomo d'armi del tempo


Explanation:
"Uomo d'armi" mi sembra generico quanto "soldato", ma meno riduttivo e più spesso riferito a figure importanti. Anche "condottiero" potrebbe funzionare, viste le sue gesta, ma sarebbe forse un'amplificazione dell'inglese.
Invece "cavaliere", figura specifica, potrebbe far pensare che fosse stato creato tale da Enrico IV, cosa che non fu.
