Buonasera......... La frase "completa" sarebbe "Crawl behind her ditches". Il periodo è il seguente: "An immediate war of "Liberation and rescue" seems an absurd assignment. But more assurd is the design for America to crawl behind her ditches in a pretended self-sufficiency" [...]. Nel contesto generale, si sottolinea come gli Stati Uniti, negli anni '40, sarebbero gli unici custodi dei valori in procinto di essere persi, nel caso l'Inghilterra politica perdesse il suo ruolo.
Quanto a quest'espressione, mi pare di avere capito che può avere un significato specifico, nel senso di uno sport in cui ldele macchine debbono uscire dai crepacci. Ma qui?Grazie!
