Sto traducendo la trascrizione di un video in cui John McEnroe (il tennista) spiega perché usa una certa marca di scarpe da ginnastica. Al momento sta parlando del proprietario della ditta di scarpe. Non capisco bene il senso della frase, soprattutto "outside looking", "aspetto esteriore" non mi suona forse il senso è che aveva uno "sguardo dall'esterno" per capire le tendenze? Grazie in anticipo per qualsiasi suggerimento

La svolta l’ha data John McEnroe .. che era molto insoddisfatto delle sue scarpe da tennis Nike e si lamentava sempre; decidemmo allora di fare una riunione insieme a lui per capire quali miglioramenti si potevano fare. Finita la riunione gli dicemmo di provare questo modello nuovo mentre apportavamo modifiche alla sua scarpa, e così se ne andò. In seguito lo vedemmo ad un’importante partita in televisione proprio con quelle “Cross Training” e a quel punto tutti quelli che erano contrari non poterono più dire nulla.
