English term or phrase: quit/land

Barzelletta (raccontata in ambiente aeronautico):
"Joe, what do you do when your engine quits at two hundred feet?"
"You land the sonofabitch!"
Alla lettera:
"Joe, cosa fai quando il motore ti pianta in asso a duecento piedi di quota-d'altezza?"
"Metti a terra-fai atterrare quel figlio di...".
E allora? Fa ridere? Direi di no...
È vero che quello che la racconta è un po' "fuori", ma mi sa che dovrebbe davvero far ridere, e sono io che non capisco-trovo il gioco di parole, che presumo sia tra i due verbi in questione...

Risposta poco più che pietosa, in tutti i sensi. Mi spiace, appellati alla seminfermità mentale del narratore.:))

l'aereo è già a 60 mt da terra, praticamente già atterrato, ecco perchè sonofabitch è scritto attaccato.
Non fa ridere comunque, ma forse risolveresti semplicemente scrivendo figliodibuonadonna e convertendo i piedi in metri....:)

dove "lasciare a terra" = "piantare in asso", e "mettere a terra" = "atterrare", nel doppio senso di atterrare qualcuno, ovvero "abbattere, avere la meglio su" e di atterrare con l'aereo, ovvero "toccare terra"...
