Explanation: to pass the buck=scaricare la propria responsabilita'. Anche in Italiano, mi pare, diciamo 'fare a scaricabarile'. Credo che abbia origine nel fatto che quando c'era un incendio la gente si metteva in linea dal pozzo alla casa che stava bruciando, e si passavano i secchi di acqua per spegnerla: la responsabilita' di spegnere l'incendio veniva cosi' delegata ogni volta che il secchio cambiava mani. Si usa in genere nell'ambiente di lavoro, dove un errore viene commesso e nessuno se ne assume la colpa/responsabilita'.
TO COME OUT OF THE CLOSET e' una frase prettamente gay, che indica un omosessuale che ha sempre nascosto le proprie inclinazioni, e ad un certo punto decide di rivelarle, 'coming out of the closet' . In Inghilterra questa frase idiomatica ha anche originato un verbo, OUTING che indica un gruppo di persone che rivelano al mondo che un certo personaggio (spesso si tratta di uomini politici) e' omosessuale.
