Sto traducendo un messaggio di errore che contiene la frase in oggetto e che non sono sicura di rendere correttamente in italiano. Il messaggio è questo:
“XML Parsing Fatal Encoding Error at Line !{lineNumber}, Column !{columnNumber}: !{exceptionText}”
Lasciando perdere la seconda parte della frase, costituita da variabili, mi chiedo se la traduzione corretta è:
"Errore (fatale) di codifica parser XML alla riga..."
oppure:
"Errore parser XML di codifica alla riga..."
Cioè: "parser" si riferisce a "errore" o a "codifica"?

Secondo la terminologia standard di Microsoft, "fatal error" è "errore irreversibile", mentre "parsing" è "analisi", essendo riferita all'attività svolta da questo sottoprogramma (il "parser", che, invece, è appunto lasciato sì in inglese). Ci sono poi moltissime corrispondenze in rete per "analisi XML".
