English to Italian translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - IT (Information Technology)
English term or phrase: Envelope
Sto traducendo alcuni messaggi di errore. Questa parola compare in diversi contesti, ad esempio:

"Ill-formed message XML (this applies just to this message, the outer "[nome azienda] ***Envelope*** XML" across messages is fine)"

"The XML you submitted is ill-formed at the [nome azienda] ***Envelope*** XML level at (or near) line !{VLP_LINE_NUMBER}, column !{VLP_COLUMN_NUMBER}"

"Invalid EffectiveDate in your XML ***envelope***."

Ho pensato di mantenere "envelope"in quanto la definizione data dal glossario Microsoft è questa: "Header and footer information, or header information only, which encapsulates or precedes document data for transport", ma gradirei conferme/smentite.

Grazie mille!
Federica C.
Italian translation:involucro
Explanation:
This term is used in many technical fields and also with regard to xml. I think that if you search for the Italian Microsoft translation, you will probably find involucro used there too. Microsoft don't often use English words in their help manuals, although English is very often used in the code of the actual programming languages.

neutral  James (Jim) Davis: It is dangerous changing to a different but very similar term, because there are so many of these in IT jargon: wrapper, library, module, routine, class, etc.
