Non sono un'esperta, ma non vedo perche', se il significato fosse semplicemente quello di "mercato locale", ci sarebbe bisogno di usare "topical". Secondo me, o il testo (se di carattere medico/farmacologico) si riferisce al mercato dei farmaci per uso topico, oppure l'espressione ha il significato piu' generale di "mercato settoriale" "mercato specializzato". Scelta difficile, alla fine ho usato mercato settoriale, soluzione che può essere adottata anche per tradurre il riferimento fornito dall'ottima Luskie. Il gel in questione potrebbe anche far pensare a un farmaco per uso topico, però credo che settoriale possa essere un termine abbastanza "capiente" da poter rendere implicito il concetto. Grazie a tutti.

solo come indicazione


Explanation:
ti faccio presente che topico viene usato in campo farmaceutico anche per definire i prodotti applicati localmente - tipo una crema per scottature, ecc.

altrimenti non resta che il significato di mercato locale, come hanno giustamente suggerito prima di me

agree  Anna Beria: Volevo dire la stessa cosa, riguardo le creme per uso topico (si usa anche in italiano). Ma se fosse "mercato locale" perche' non usare "local, or regional, market"?
