Apparso di recente su WJS.com (Wall Street Journal) e su cnet.com, l'MPU e' sicuramente meno innovativo del Session Surround ma pur sempre un tentativo per porre rimedio alla cecita' da banner ormai imperante.
Si tratta di un banner quadrato di circa 250 pixel di lato che viene inserito non in cima pagina come i banner classici, bensi' nel mezzo del testo. Il contenuto dell'MPU tende in genere a riallacciarsi al contenuto del testo da cui si trova circondato ed in questo senso si tratta di una pubblicita' piu' mirata. Inoltre le dimensioni piu' generose si prestano a mettere meglio in contesto il messaggio pubblicitario con link a pagine diverse e con testi piu' ampi.
formati analizzati sono:
· banner tradizionale 468 x 60
· skyscraper 120 x 600
· skyscraper wide160 x 600
· rettangolo 180 x 150
· rettangolo medio 300 x 250 – MPU*
· super banner 728 x 90
Negli ultimi due anni è cresciuta moltissimo la popolarità del Rettangolo Medio - MPU 300 x 250 ed ora rappresenta il 27,2% del totale di questi formati. Il fattore che ne ha determinato la crescita è stato l’essere molto adatto allo streaming video, sempre più richiesto dagli investitori e cresciuto al ritmo[2] del 100% nell’ultimo anno.
